‘Descending Light’ Series, 2019
The ‘Descending Light’ series shows a unique perspective on how sunlight affects the water’s surface in the ocean.
Most of my work involves taking photographs with early light during sunrise. However, I wanted to explore different perspectives and angles, focusing on light that’s harsher on the surface of the water, which is typically later in the morning.
In this series, the harsh light from the sun shined through thick clouds after a storm, which created what can only be described as an ominous atmosphere in the water. The light reflected off the water’s rough surface, creating ripples of light and refractions captured by the camera.
Shot with the Canon 5D Mark IV and Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II inside an AquaTech Water Housing.
This series was awarded a nominee in the ‘seascape’ category in the 6th edition of the Fine Art Photography Awards.
